THE INVENTIONS OF GOD (AND EVA)
Little Eva is a budding engineer who loves to invent machines, toys, and robots that bring her joy. But where does her curiosity, creativity, and pizzazz come from? Meet God. He loves to invent, too, and delights in His creations, especially Eva.
God and Eva are A LOT alike because God made Eva to be just like Him.
Eva loves her inventions, but maybe not their earlier versions. God loves Eva, every version of her, and He wants her to know just how much. Parents and children alike will relish the playful illustrations and the gentle reminder that the image of God is alive in each of us.

The story of Eva
Sometime last year I found an illustrator named Amy Domingo scrolling around on Instagram and fell in love with her illustrations. After putting the phone down, I couldn’t stop thinking about her illustrations. That night, after reading some books to my kids before bedtime I thought, “you know? I’ve never read A picture book about Jesus that was funny. God loves humor. He freaking created a platypus.”
So I wrote a funny Jesus picture book and then pitched it to internet stranger/illustrator, Amy. She told me she’d been wanting to illustrate a children’s book and praying for the opportunity (first Jesus moment). She said “let’s do it” and we tackled the first challenge, finding a literary agent who wanted to represent a funny Jesus picture book.
After researching for a few weeks, I found one agent who specifically said she was looking for a funny Jesus picture book so i felt that the margin of error on the query was very low, no pressure! I queried Adria Goetz and she responded pretty quickly with a “Let’s go!” (Second Jesus moment)
We revised, Amy illustrated, and we subbed to some places. Pretty quickly, the fine folks at WaterBrook & Multnomah (a Penguin/Random House imprint) said “oooohhh, we like. Let’s talk.” (Third Jesus moment)
Fast forward a buncha months and a pandemic and I finally get to announce that our picture book, The Inventions of God (and Eva) is coming to a book near you Fall 2021 with a second coming sometime in 2022 (assuming the world is still around then).
P.S. For readers who’ve been with me for my YA asking, “but what about YA?” I’m going to be working on a new YA in the next few months, so don’t worry.
